"The industrial tradition in forest-based bioeconomy gives us advantages"
Wood is a sustainable material for the future, and the interest in building with wood is growing — both among public sector organizations and private property owners. This creates new opportunities here in Värmland, where Moelven Byggmodul operates three factories that produce and deliver turnkey buildings— always with a wooden frame.

“Industrial construction has several advantages”
“Industrial construction has several advantages,” says the company’s CEO, Henrik Asp.
“All production takes place in weather-protected facilities, where the climate is optimal for the material, the construction process, and the working environment.”
“The total construction time is significantly reduced because the manufacturing of the modules takes place in parallel with groundwork and site preparation. It’s both time-efficient and cost-effective. The faster a building can be rented out or put to use, the better return our customer gets on their investment.”
Three factories in Värmland
Moelven Byggmodul’s three factories each have specialized expertise and equipment. In Kil, the well-known site cabins (Kilsboden) are produced — long a standard for functional and flexible staff spaces and offices on construction sites and other workplaces.
“Our largest facility, with two production lines, is located in Säffle. Here, we focus on rental modules for temporary spaces during renovations or when operations are expanding. We also produce modules for more extensive, complex projects such as housing, hospitals, and schools.”
“At the factory in Torsby, we have one production line, and here we can manufacture our largest modules. Sometimes we split a project, producing some modules in Säffle and others in Torsby.”

"We see great potential"
Henrik Asp notes that Sweden is currently ramping up in several areas, including the Swedish Prison and Probation Service and the Armed Forces, which are expanding and establishing new operations in a short time.
“We see great potential in delivering flexible and high-quality solutions for these types of projects.”
Moelven Byggmodul is part of the Moelven Group, which has around 3,300 employees and production at about 40 locations in Norway and Sweden. The group’s companies represent the entire value chain of the forest and wood industry—from raw material supply to product development, wood processing, and construction.
“The proximity to raw materials from the forest is the main reason our factories are located in Värmland. Here, we also have access to the right skills. The region has an industrial tradition linked to forest-based bioeconomy, and the group actively participates in business networks.”
“Värmland’s geographic location in southern Sweden gives us advantages. It places us close to many of our customers, who are largely located in the metropolitan areas around Oslo, Gothenburg, and Stockholm, as well as in other growing towns in between.”

"We are proud to work in an industry where sustainability is real"
Being a forested region also means that the company’s employees in Kil, Säffle, and Torsby enjoy good opportunities for a healthy work-life balance. The proximity to nature is unique throughout Värmland, making it easy to enjoy outdoor activities year-round.
Moelven Byggmodul is an important employer in the local labor markets and aims to contribute to the industry’s skills supply. For example, the company collaborates with Stjerneskolan in Torsby, which offers upper secondary programs focused on construction, civil engineering, and industrial technology. Students are offered internships at the factories, and there are also opportunities to work as apprentices.
“We are proud to work in an industry where sustainability is real. We refine a raw material that comes from generations of forest owners before us. We actively work to meet increasingly strict environmental requirements, including through Svanen 4.0 and Miljöbyggnad certifications.”
The growing interest in building with wood signals an exciting future for the timber industry and the construction sector.
“At Moelven, we source our raw materials from well-managed forests. That’s a competitive advantage and gives us opportunities to further develop our industrial construction.”
